Ode to Daydreams

I was always getting told off for daydreaming. But I now realise the value of these special places our minds visit when left to their own devices. I wrote an ode to the simple daydream, where my poetry seeds germinate:

Night dreams are muddled

fuddled confusions

where four-nosed tigers

lead you up the isle

while knitting bandanas

which you throw in a blender

and make a smoothie.

Daydreams are daisies

staring at endless skies

embracing the glowing touch

of stillness and sun,

and simple wishes

like ‘how perfect now would be

if I could feel you

forever’.
