My Uniqueness
A poem so deep
My touch ignites, my thoughts pass on by.
Every thought, every doubt, hard to explain.
Feelings can't be simple explained.
Never defined.
I feel, the author within is time sensitive.
Waiting, just waiting, for something to happen.
Something that can change everything
Financial stability
Freedom without within so hard.
Constantly fighting my desires.
Constantly fighting for myself.
When I see him, my heart beats faster.
Are my dreams all that matters?
What's the point of everything if you aren't beside of me.
Working hard, may give me a purpose but it's you who raises my hopes and dreams.
I want to know something my love, deep down if your dreams could come true what would dream be.

B. A. Durham’s False Memories blends dream and reality in a seamless mix. As his father, afflicted by Alzheimer’s, fades away, the narrator is haunted by a dream that may be a memory, returning to him insistently. The piece is full of wonderful detail (the father touching his lip where once there was a mustache, “but now he is clean-shaven—he has been for years” — and moving in revealing the complexities of a family’s life. A worthy winner which shows the power of dreams to influence us.
