Missing my Dog

My Best friend

By C. D. GuzmanPublished 11 days ago 1 min read

Tonight it hits me, a weight so deep,

in this cold cell where shadows creep.

I’ll never see my loyal friend again,

my dog, my Demon, through thick and thin.

He was six when they took me away,

and dogs don’t live past ten, they say.

Ten years in this cell, a cruel fate,

knowing my friend won’t wait at the gate.

Demon, with eyes so wise and true,

always knew just what to do.

Kept me safe with a silent guard.

Now he’s gone, life’s so hard.

His fur was soft, his bark so strong.

He was my comfort when things went wrong.

In the darkest nights, he was my light,

guiding me through the endless night.

I see his face in my restless dreams,

hear his bark in distant screams.

But reality’s cold, harsh, and clear,

i’ll never hold my Demon near.

Sentenced to ten years, a lifetime of pain,

while he faces the end of his days in vain.

He’ll grow old without me there,

to pet his fur, to show I care.

Tonight the sorrow cuts so deep,

in this cell where memories seep.

Of a faithful friend, now lost to time,

as I serve out my unwelcome crime.

Demon, forgive me for leaving you,

in this cage, my heart’s torn in two.

I miss you more than words can say,

in this lonely cell, night and day.

Oh that is sad! Our pets have all died and I miss them every day. I loved your rhyming ode to Demon. (But now maybe do people names..?) ❣️
