I sent my love sailing
To see what I could find
Inhaling and exhaling
What the world defines
Bought into the madness
A supermarket brand name
Drew it onto my canvas
But it was all just a game
So I took a gamble
Tied it onto a string
Armed with the example
My folks gave to me
Laid it all on the line
With nothing left to imagine
Gave everything that was mine
To see what would happen
I stood during the drought
I stood in pouring rain
I endured the doubt
I absorbed every pain
Till one day on this line
I felt a tug on my heart
I thought to love I was blind
Emotions loaded and cocked
And then, to my surprise
You blew in on the breeze
You reopened my eyes
Gave my love back to me
The image of me
Appeared in the shadows
With this guarantee
That as far as love goes
I am all that I need
And what I feel and need matters
So I untied the string
And watched as it scattered
Across the blue sky
As free as the breeze
Covering the divide
And returning to me
