Sugar. It was my boyfriend, my cup of tea in the afternoon, my best friend in the dark during the night, a candy bar. But it’s never sustained with that “pick-me-up.” Instead, it was that caffeinated feeling of being high, then crashing down low and feeling groggy.

Enough was enough. I decided to stop the cycle, this cycle of being a victim to my own self. Thus, I had to let go of the extra sugar and would then observe the changes in my system.

The first week? Brutal. It became all cravings were monsters, the need for sugar was roaring in my head, and the afternoon slump was falling like a ton of bricks.

But slowly, things shifted. They concluded that cravings were reduced, palates normalized, and it was possible to enjoy the taste of fruits. The biggest change? My energy levels. The more feared crashes were no more, they were replaced by getting up and moving around power.

The latter concern went beyond energy benefits. My skin became as clear as a baby; I felt I weighed a few degrees less and my brain felt quicker, much quicker. But that is not all – my sleep was no longer affected by the sugars either; no more sleepless nights!

Fine, let me tell the truth: sugar isn’t going to disappear from our lives one day, and that’s completely reasonable. At times I also feel the need for some tasty sweetness. But now, I'm empowered. I can make decisions – healthier choice or this is just it, I will indulge myself a little.

It’s not just a one-time decision to quit sugar, but a process. But it has turned out to be such a revelation. It is about embracing what I know is best for me, rather than the numbers that I see on the scale.

If you are planning to reduce your intake of foods and beverages high in sugar, I suggest you proceed! Well, it may not always be easy, but the benefits that come with being a trader are simply out of this world. You deserve to let go of the sugar monster and embrace the feeling of being good from the inside!
