An Elegy for the Beginning of the Year

December.

Preparing for a new year.

A plan for success.

A belief I could manifest.

January.

New beginnings and resolutions.

A change.

A fresh start.

A new outlook.

I want that for me.

Desperately.

January.

Death.

A reminder.

There is no control in the end.

A funeral.

A memorial rather.

A bad omen?

Starting the year saying goodbye.

I could really use a good year.

January.

Grief.

Nostalgia.

Contemplation.

Reconciliation.

A reminder.

A change.

But don't forget the past.

It's there to remind you of what was.

Trials and traumas.

Lead to where you are now.

A reminder.

Make the most of the time you have left.

Love hard and make the good moments last.

You never know when it ends.

I hope I remember all year what I learned in January.
