Indignation

stupid games

I approached you with exposure

But you didn’t offer me closure

You dared to entertain

An unfair game

Of cat and mouse

Except I’m the cat

And you’re more like a louse

Under my skin

Itching begins

And now, I can’t ignore it

I’ve been infected with you like a parasite

Of hope and dashed dreams

It seems when I lend myself to dreaming

It leaves me reeling

And I thought it was time

I even had a key around my neck

reminding me

New promises are locked

And the door is mine

But you-blocked fulfillment

Slammed it in my face

To my disgrace

I wasn’t in a place

That had room for that kind of apathetic

abuse

Oh, what’s the use?

You can’t see me or hear me so you can’t

have me

But somehow, despite my resistance,

You own me anyways

About the Creator

Kt

I embarked to my favorite coastline several years ago in search of feeling in a dark season and accdientally wrote a poem. I have written ever since.

Poetry is what my friends know me for, but words burn in my bones.
