For This

I didn’t ask for this.

For your hands around my waist

Lips on my cheek.

Head on my chest.

I didn’t ask for you.

For diesel and grease and oil.

Nights full of stars.

Hikes and cars, roads.

I didn’t ask for the good things.

For the smiles and the hugs.

Six hour long conversations.

The way you put me to sleep.

I didn’t ask for the pain.

For death sticks for breakfast.

Days in bed.

Pain that consumes my heart.

I didn’t ask for this.

But now I ask you to stay.

I didn’t ask for you.

But I don’t want to know life without you.

I didn’t ask for the pain.

But I embrace because you.

I didn’t ask for this.

I do, now.

Please.
