how it feels

silky as tofu

pearlescent like rice water

warm as matcha froth

creamy as coconut milk

i swallow smoothly

wet as rose water

fragrant notes of butterscotch

dripping like honey

raw egg white viscosity

i ‘show/don’t tell’ you

sticky, tangible feelings

reciprocated

This poem is so tasty, rosy, even amorous. Thanks for writing this. Just stumbled upon it so I have random thoughts coming out. Going to check out more of your work. :)

This is gorgeous. The metaphors you chose are so unique and gentle, creating a sensual, loving and intimate piece to read/experience. I love this, Zara!

… I also love how your poem exemplifies physical reactions to mental fluctuations and experiences 🤗

So glad I stumbled upon this! It’s exquisitely written and, to me, obvious the reader isn’t the ‘you’. The poem needs no further embellishment; over explaining would have undermined it. It’s perfect as is ❤️

This was something else. Can totally see this placing. Well done on this magic piece of writing. Loved all the different descriptions and elements and also think you were clever with how so many of them feel so connected as tofu, rice water and matcha etc. Very clever, very sensual and a stunning piece. Would be surprised if the overlords don't make this Top Story!

There is something strangely holy about this poem.

  • The way my jaw dropped when I realised what this was about. I had the epiphany at "swallow", lol. I loved all the metaphors you've used. So brilliant! It was so beautifully written!

  • And what have you shown us? Anything with which our hearts & minds & sense memory connects. You have allowed us the freedom to enter into this sensual experience in any way we might find meaningful. Well done.

  • Oh wow that was so amazing the way you really did show this! It was really a visual piece, vivid imagery. And gives you the feeling of being somewhere, in a moment, experiencing the piece with all the senses. I think a piece is incredible when you could feel it. Excellent job with this!
