Green Garden Hose

The town pump

By Ryan BurkeyPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

From your fount spring gushing flows

In the early morning sun dews

And the cool setting of dusk

Even in the heat of high noon

You are quite literally the town pump!

You hydrate every resident flower, plant and tree

And douse the vast forests of grass and shrub

Every backyard creature, winged and terrestrial, finds relief in your pools

When cruel drought strikes

And the heavens refuse to unlock their rain clouds

You quench the thirst of every blooming and breathing thing

Roots run deep because of your merciful soakings

Your generous showers bring blessings to those on whom they fall

You are a benevolent neighbor, Mr. Green Garden Hose
