like a baby, you fall asleep in the most arbitrary of places.
I'm Fine!
you shout, the type of noise that reverberates deep inside your bones,
it leaves me chilled.
I'm Fine!
you shout, but you stumble across the floor.
and like a bomb,
you explode at the most
delicate of times,
leaving a destruction in your wake.
but the difference between
an explosion
and you
is at least a volcano can be cleaned up
after it erupts.
yesterday
a shard of glass wedged itself
into my foot
from a bottle you'd thrown on the floor
and i swore
i wouldn't let you destroy the rest of us
the way you destroyed yourself.
I'm Not Sick!
you hollered
and fell asleep
face-down on the carpet.
(and so what if) you can't even speak
she'll still take off all your clothes
(what's the big deal if) you slur your
way through all your shows
(and it surely doesn't matter if)
you're comatose
Leave Me Alone!
you rambled
before falling headfirst
off the stage
and breaking your nose.
you know you've hit your lowest when
you don't remember what it feels like
to be sober.
yesterday
you were out until after dark
and didn't recognise me
when you came home
and i swore i wouldn't
let you throw away your life
the way you were.
I'll Be Fine,
you stuttered
and took another shot
that burned your throat on the way down.
but like a baby, you drink yourself to sleep.
