forbearance

a lesson in stoicism

By Sara LittlePublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Patience makes the heart grow stronger

though in the midst of waiting

frustration claws at the mind

ever striving for what lies ahead

but seeming trapped by what's behind

i vow to always hold your hand

as you anchor my own

side by side we shall always stand

through obstacles unknown

And when the strife is over

and we sit, entwined as one,

never again to depart from ourselves,

we will look back

with perhaps a little sadness

at the tempests we've endured

and say to each other

"there are no regrets

for here at the end, my love,

we have finally won."
