It's soft and hard against my hand.
Velvet covered steel,
A conundrum of a man.
Sweet furred smell,
Covering the hint of rot,
That is death's sweet tell.
Its sickly-sweet sugar,
Coating my tongue with its waxy taste
Caught in my throat, like a spur.
One last cuddle, stroking against its soothing texture.
The fur covering its rigored body,
Reminding me of its final fixture.
Finally, into the hole, I dug,
I drop it, glassy eyes accusing.
While in its grave, I make it snug.
It had been my companion,
Loving, trusting, naive.
And still so young.
But all things must come to an end.
With a heartfelt sigh,
I said goodbye to my bunny friend.
