Altar candles burn

Our silent prayers released

Ancestors singing

-

How far songs travel

Growing wings from vocal tones

Riding broken breath

-

Memories of her

Winter water turns to ice

Bitter grief preserved

-

Dirt finally thaws

She always kept us waiting

Goodnight swiftly came
