don't we hold hands just to make sure we're still here?
a love poem

Love, wake up, I have bad news
and good news
June ran over July
but love made it to this side.
so baby let me put my lips
on your name
holy fuck,
to hear your name
is to hear time
wind back,
a year, an hour -
all the same.
so baby let me put my lips
on time
and turn it to ash.
is this how it is to love -
to swim in rum
and yet be true?
to see eye to eye
with god, on god
that if any,
it is not in any of us?
so why even care?
let's park in a mead
turn off
the sun
trap the moon in the damp
that
runs
down
my
neck
hold my hand and make sure we’re
here
roll in the ash of time
and make love,
ne’er end.
