They’ll say I’m on drugs, I know this for certain.

I just hope my parachute will act like a curtain.

Covering my body as I hit the ground below.

After the autopsy, they will come to know,

That my mind was clear and I’m not on dope.

I just pulled on the wrong parachute rope.

But it failed while I was airborne.

Their expressions are all careworn.

Nearing the ground, my toes curl.

I wish my parachute would unfurl.

At least I don’t have to worry about surviving,

All because I agreed to try out skydiving.

I love a good rhyme! Well done 👍👏

  • Wow! I love this poem… such lovely rhythm and rhyme, excellent title; subtitle & photo ✅ Sadly amusing! Like Dharrsheena, I’d probably meet a similar end for the same reason😵‍💫🤣

  • Oooo, I loved the meaning of airborne that you used. I never thought of that! So brilliant! Also, lol, poor guy. I'm veryyyyy terrified of heights. So if I try out skydiving, I'm sure I'll end up like him. Who knows, maybe I'd be dead from my fear of heights even before I hit the ground hahahahahaha. Loved your poem D!

    Great title; sad conclusion. 😔

"Oh, he ain't gonna jump no more! Glory, glory what a Hell of a way to die!" This was an awesome poem! I've always wanted to try sky diving and I wonder what it says about me that after reading this my only thought was "pft, I bet I'd make it" XD I love especially how you created a character who isn't panicking at it. I mean, what good would freaking out do in this situation? Fantastic story in verse, Donna!

    Ooh. That is terrifying.

Ooofff, not the kind of death I’d wish upon anyone. Hopefully, the heart gives out before all the bones crush. Apparently, many people in free fall die of a heart attack before the impact.
