Dirt Cheap Lit
The rabbit in the moon is out tonight
Full, bright, (God I hope I’m a fullbright scholar
one day)
The rabbit gives me light, she lit the night
Ignited my moonly mind
As I pulled out bags and bags
Of heavy books I found
At Dirt Cheap
I picked out every piece of literature
I left the shelves bare. All bones, no meat
Just skin, shallow empty skin
Extra crispy crackling for the brain
Line the shelves of Dirt Cheap
Because of me
I took the books that no one liked
Because they didn’t know who
They were.
I stole the Reason and emotion, but I left Order
The shelves are now neat stacks
I put Ashley Tisdale and Miley Cyrus back with care,
I care.
I saved you Hemmingway, from the woman buying two dollar bras.
I saved you Orcy from the greasy fingers of the guy eating fried okra out of his pockets
they think French is a style of dressing,
Or how you eat your fries. You belong with me not
The man pulling blue dots off of tent
Trying to get away with a scam, a sham life,
He wants a discount on camping
But has never read “How to Build a Fire”
