Deployment Season
Tides that bind two rocks tighter, tighter together.
My tummy endures spasmodic episodes each night,
though tonight it’s not just baby boy,
quivering from more than the cold.
How nervous can nervous be.
.
The aroma of hazelnut coffee streams into the master space,
and I,
awake since my head hit the pillows,
walk down,
toward the dim kitchen light.
.
Bang-bang.
I know how he’s trained,
hawk fighter,
my fast mover pilot,
and the iron rations he knows he must acquaint with.
The 3rd move nearly pulled us apart,
Dear John,
I wish I could be stronger for him needs her,
her is the heart of the family,
beating next to a steady rock.
Or two rocks,
I don’t always see both sustaining the craziest, coolest, lightest, heaviest,
tides that bind two rocks tighter,
tighter together.
.
I’m running these thoughts through my head,
he picks up his egg crumpet sandwich,
bites into it,
looks at me and
smiles.
