I wasn’t served a plate at their table,
so instead I built one.
I chopped down the materials that
were needed to speak my mind.
I just wanted to be heard and not
muffled by those who were blind.
Rejection almost killed my vision;
I thought I couldn’t be healed.
Then, my purpose became more
and more revealed, as I carved out
a table crafted imperfectly for me.
Laid an old, torn sheet that spread
barely halfway across the sloped
surface with splinters.
It had no gloss finish, but it
had tacks and fissures.
Yet, I smiled and pulled up a chair
and watched as seats became
occupied with those who cared
and saw what I could see.

Love the empowerment and beautiful strength in this 🤍 Wonderful!
Now this is extremely powerful! The ones who care about us would eventually fill the seats at our table!
Very empowering. Go you!

A must-read! Beautifully written, RP!
Great job RP... I like how your table is imperfect with splinters, tacks, ans fissures and still those that care still sit at the table with you.
