Darkness

Absence of light

I’ll be that bad bitch on a motorcycle

Clad in leather

Heart of black

Protected from your

Big man fingers

Climbing up my back

Grasping my neck

Until I cannot breathe.

I’ll be out with the wind

My hair chasing behind

Telling your kind

To keep up if they can

So they never attempt to touch me

Ever

Let alone speak.

I believed in love once,

I believed in belonging.

I believed your empty promises and in your slow kisses.

But where you shattered my heart,

It is empty.

Where you ran your fingers,

It is numb.

The only thing I know now is darkness

The absence of light.

Maybe I’ll chase it down

When I rev my engine

And fly.
