Colors of the sun swirl all about, a multitude of shades
Marking milestones as we traipse upon this earth
Each footstep unique and special in its own way
Some filled with sadness but many others filled with mirth.
White and yellow mark the newness of our first arrival
And the squalling, tears, and laughter that ensue
It’s difficult to always know in which direction life will steer
But always, thus begins a march of overwhelming pursuit.
A stronger yellow fills the daylight of our youth
Blossoming into daffodils and merry-go-rounds
Joy and innocence wrap to entwine themselves tightly
Until music to the threshold of pending maturity sounds.
A yellow so bright and blinding fills our long days
Of adult years and life as we move stealthily along
Trials and tribulations, often balanced with such joy,
Abound and flow in the cycle of a never ending song.
The sunset blossoms with a deep, burnt orange
As we merge into our later years and oft’ begin to wonder
Where the time has flown - we’ve still so much to do
But life has its own design as it begins to burst asunder.
The penetrating and enveloping darkness of twilight looms
And we begin to ponder if we did all we could do
To live our lives in the blueprint that was specifically ours
As we weaved in and out to perform a commanding coup.
And then the darkness falls and near blackness abounds
As we linger and wait for what could well be years
Listening for the final, masterful stroke that defines our time
And then of a sudden, life is slowly snuffed as death appears.
A brilliance…..and then it all begins anew…..
The light that surfaces is so blinding and so bright
And leads to yet another imposing chance
To begin afresh, manipulating things aright.
Woven in a multitude of individual tapestries
Life is a cycle of colors which we seek to align
How we choose to master and manipulate it
Is pure choice, unique and of an artist’s delightful design.
So take the colors and weave them all about
Along with the clay of life that’s sculpted and molded
To create a unique and memorable stamp upon your time
Until the story begins anew, in new ways of old yearning to be retold.
