cherry

(trees)

Top Story - April 2024

the cherry trees

weep

in pink.

the concrete

cracks

in jagged edges.

tears dissolve

the barren spaces

like acid.

where there was nothing

there is life.

the kind of life

that holds a thorn

in the barren graveyards

between dying flowers.

the kind of life

that cannot be forgotten

with the wind.

the one you miss

(secretly)

in the morning

when the sun shines

and the birds chirp

and there is coffee.

cherry trees that do not cry

wither and die

like hearts unwatered.

slabs of concrete

sink into oblivion

if they do not grind

their stubborn teeth.

i step on pink petals

and they have tears

unlike me.

Cherries are delicious fruits known for their sweet and tangy flavor. They come in various colors, including red, yellow, and black, and are often enjoyed fresh or used in various culinary dishes, desserts, and beverages. Cherries are also packed with nutrients, including vitamins C and K, as well as antioxidants like anthocyanins, which have been linked to various health benefits. Additionally, cherries are sometimes used in symbolic contexts, representing sweetness, abundance, or even temptation, in literature, art, and culture. Whether enjoyed as a refreshing snack on a hot summer day or incorporated into pies, jams, or cocktails, cherries are a versatile and delightful fruit enjoyed by many around the world. https://cotonmode.co.uk/collections/tea-towels

This caught my eye and made me click because of all the cherry trees in blossom where I am right now. It makes me wonder what kind of stories these trees could tell if they could talk

I really like this poem! 🌸 It talks about cherry trees crying in pink petals, and how the concrete breaks into sharp pieces. It shows how tears bring life to empty places, just like acid. 🌱 It's about finding beauty and growth even in difficult times. The poem reminds us of the things we secretly miss, like the cherry trees in the morning, and the feelings we carry with us. ☀️ It's a powerful reminder to appreciate life's little moments and to nurture our hearts and surroundings. Great job! 👍

"the kind of life that holds a thorn in the barren graveyards between dying flowers." I can't quite express why, but this piece of verse was beautiful and it really spoke to me. And it made me feel strangely nostalgic for something I've never known, the petals from the cherry trees to be precise. A wonderful poem, Sara! Congrats on your Top Story
