break

i put the shards

of my heart

you shattered

at your feet

to show you

look

this is what

you made of me.

but the one

who broke you,

he cannot unbreak.

i licked your neck

traced the bruises

i didn’t draw:

sucked harder

on the possession

she tried to

mark you with.

the truth -

you are nobody’s.

you tell me lies:

i am yours,

with your hand

around my throat

and i say

i want to be

and i leave out

why it will remain

a mere desire -

one i will lie awake

every night

wishing

were true.

heartbreak
