ayeeyo macaan

af qoyani hadal ma daayo – a living mouth does not give up talk

By nicimaPublished 5 days ago 1 min read

whilst my tongue is still wet

and soul lives through me

i’ll tell you what i can insha’Allah

and it’ll stay between us and these four walls

ayeeyo

she tells me my secret name i must not utter to others

she tells me the way of life

she tells me about the homeland

she tells me about the sun, sea and sand

soil i now want to escape to, after witnessing the fruitful land i come from.

the leaves that gathered to listen to her tales will continue to whisper her words through the storms

it isn’t really true that it’s only four walls

it might be four gates at the park we pass through

or the three in her mouth keeping the rest of the words that one day i’ll never receive

when the time comes that i expand our secret walls and pass her advice through myself,

i hope i do her justice

by Allah’s will i hope i do her justice.
