This Digital Life

Awe

Awe. The sun exalts in the morning.

Bored, I sit with glazed eyes.

Can I have my phone back?

Digital endorphins.

Eternally connected me.

Forever alone with the world.

Gear up. The work doesn't wait.

Hand to keyboard and mouse,

I stare at the larger screen.

Jennifer Lopez is trending again?

Kidnapped child found alive...

Light and data enter my brain,

Maybe I can discover Awe.

Not now. I need to write that document.

On a good day I feel mostly fine

Producing endless banalities.

"Qualified professional."

"Registered and Certified Expert."

Significance eludes me as

Time turns the wall clock's hand.

Unlimited data delivers high definition

Videos to my brain like a pain killer.

Where will I find it today?

X, TikTok, YouTube?

Yes. The sun sets while I watch

Zoo animals dance to Elvis.

sad poetry

Where can I find zoo animals dancing to Elvis? I need to know. This is what has been missing from my life. All of that aside, this is a pretty accurate description of a day in the modern life. Depressing isn't it? Except for the zoo animals.

Fantastic abecedarian poem, you have quite a way with words and what a great pick for the poem.

    Very clever abecedarian poem

This is perfection. The way it begins and ends with movements of the sun perfectly shows how an entire day has been wasted. ‘Light and data enter my brain’ demonstrates that harsh contrast of surviving on artificial light rather than thriving on what’s real.

Ah, the X line - fit in so nice!

Well done - I loved how you told this story through this abecedarian.
