In a pond near a quaint little bog,
Lived a spry and quite jolly green frog.
He'd leap and he'd bound, with a joyful sound,
In his own little damp, squishy log.

One day, in a meadow nearby,
Lived a cat with a curious eye.
She'd pounce and she'd play, in her own feline way,
With a grace that would catch a bird's eye.

The frog, named Fred, was a hoot,
He wore a tiny red suit.
With a croak and a grin, he'd jump right in,
To adventures that never would mute.

The cat, named Claire, had a flair,
For sneaking with utmost care.
With whiskers that twitched, and a nose that itched,
She'd stalk anything unaware.

One bright sunny day they did meet,
In the field where the flowers smell sweet.
Fred leapt with a splash, into Claire's path,
Causing her to jump to her feet.

"Good gracious!" cried Claire with a start,
"You're a frog, and you gave me a heart!"
Fred croaked with delight, "Didn't mean to fright,
But it's nice to meet you, sweetheart."

Claire giggled, "You're funny, my friend,
Let's see where this path might extend."
With a flick of her tail, they set sail,
On a friendship that no one could bend.

They'd play leapfrog by moonlight so bright,
And chase fireflies all through the night.
With Fred's croaks in tune, and Claire's purring swoon,
They'd laugh till the first morning light.

In the pond, they'd both take a swim,
Claire's paws moving swift and trim.
Fred would float on a lily, looking quite silly,
While Claire swam around with a grin.

They'd share stories of whiskers and warts,
Of mouse hunts and wild water sports.
Fred taught Claire to leap, while she'd teach him to sleep,
In a hammock they made out of shorts.

Their antics became quite renowned,
In the villages scattered around.
"The Frog and the Cat, who'd have thought that?
Best friends where fun can be found."

So, if you wander by that quaint bog,
And hear laughter, a croak, and a mog,
You'll know without doubt, what's all the bout,
It's the best friends, Claire and her frog.

I love stories that rhyme. This is such a cute little tale. I was just picturing the illustrations I would imagine if this were a children's book. So wonderful.
