Internal Monologue

Hello, who are you?

Have you forgotten?

You were gone for so long.

You left me abandoned.

You were kept safe.

Was that the right choice?

I tried to protect you.

By keeping me hidden?

He became a priority.

And you are not important?

He was easier.

He knows you better than you know yourself.

He sees me.

But you do not see you.

You don't understand.

You must come back.

I've been holding the strings.

You've been holding too tightly.

I must or it isn't real.

But it fell apart anyway.

Smother it or it will die.

Drop the curtain and let it lie.

I think this is the first time I am reading a monologue on Vocal. Just it is wonderful at the first sight.

Great concept for a dialogue poem and very well executed!

  • The poignant ending suggests a need to let go and find a balance between holding on and embracing the uncertainties of life, thank you very much for sharing, love your works, hope to read more, subscribed.
