ALASKA

Awe inspiring beauty

By Sarah Fiander HarrisonPublished about a month ago 1 min read

Alaska

A country that fascinates me, inspires me.

Snow peaked mountains visible

From a lake side shore.

Wild salmon leap and fly

In crystal clear waters, as icy as those snowy peaks.

Grizzly bears amble to the stream

To catch their supper as they leap.

Eagles flying overhead,

Survey this scene below, watching

And waiting for left over scraps.

Trappers in furs silently stalk deer, elk and moose

Keeping watch around them in case,

The hunter becomes the hunted.

Killer whales are leaping and blowing

Jets of water up into the blue

Tourists picking up cameras in awe

Wanting a shot of a different type.

Vast landscapes and miles of

Uninhabited land

Make this country a giant of nature.

How I’d love to stand at the rail of a ship

And pick up my camera too.

I went on a two week "guided" tour of Alaska. All I can say is, I WANT TO GO BACK! It's so beautiful and everyone is so nice. And I know there is so much more to see. It's on my bucket list (as soon as I get the money, I'm there!).
