After the Parade

A Series of Haikus

By LibbyPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Sequins left behind

Fail to mend broken spirits

After the parade.

Feeling abandoned

As the rainbow starts to fade,

After the parade.

Wishing to return

To a month of unity

After the parade.

Trying to adjust

To cultural displacement

After the parade.

Hijacked our rainbow

That is now mangled and smudged

After the parade.

Rainbows now flying

Over a biased empire

After the parade.

Colors degraded

By commercialization

After the parade.

Pride in disarray

When conformity prevails

After the parade.

Over five decades

Fighting; Repayed by one month

After the parade.

Fear-ridden lives lost,

And how have we really improved?

After the parade.

Changes have been made,

But this doesn't mean we're done,

After the parade.
