20 years

How many of us can say

We have known are best

Friend for 20 years?

If you are younger

How many of you can

Say that you have known

Your best friend more than

Half your life.

In my case it is both.

I realized the other day that

It has been 20 years since we

Have met.

It is hard to believe it

Has been 20 years with you.

20 years of good and bad times

A lot has happened in those 20 years.

From our teenage years where I went

Through my cutting phase

And me trying to do things

For the first time.

To you going through your guy phase.

We survived the teen years somehow.

Our 20’s were interesting.

We went through college

And I finally graduated

You are still going.

There where more bad relationships

For you.

There where health problems.

The one thing I regret in our 20’s

Was losing touch for a period of time.

We are in our 30’s now

How are we in our 30’s?

It seems like yesterday

We were in my pool at night

When no one was at home.

We are older and maybe

A little wiser.

You have always been there

For me.

Can't wait to see what happens

In our 40’s and beyond.

For the young people reading this

You may go through periods where

You don’t talk to your friends.

If it is just from distance or losing

Touch don’t give up.

You will find your way back

To each other.

Friendships are important

And long-term friends

Are what makes life great.
