My Massive Rottweiler That Was Scared Of Bubbles
I have always been a dog person, mainly because since I was a child I was always surrounded by them. And I'm not just talking about poodles and beagles, I grew up among Pitbulls, Rottweilers and Dobermans, you know, the breeds that many people fear.

From dwarf to giant: the rabbit that fooled us
When I moved to Athens, Greece in 2017, I fell in love with the city even though I had visited it many times. I arrived in March and was welcomed by the cool temperature of Spring and the quieter period where the city wasn't heaving with tourists.

The Blind Puppy That Saw Right Through Me. Top Story - April 2021.
Working in a veterinary hospital means either having such a slow day that you’re detailing kennels and reorganizing cabinets, or so busy you skip lunch and suddenly it’s midnight - there’s no in between. On this particular day, when I noticed a persistent whining noise coming from a kennel in the hospitalization area, it was the latter. It’s literally my job to keep track of everything going on with any patients in the hospital, so I quickly investigated the source of this noise and found a tiny culprit was causing the ear-numbing sound.

Does Your Cat Do This Too?
Bella was one of two kittens in a cardboard box in the park. Her sister, a tabby I named Stella, was the cat I chose, but I knew they were both coming home with me the minute I held Bella. I was a sucker, but it didn't matter. I had room in my heart for both. Having lost my 13-year-old cat, I was finally ready for a new pet, and I just knew that two would be a whole different experience.

The Station 57 Cat. Third Place in Stray to Stay Challenge. Top Story - April 2021.
There was a “meow” coming from somewhere in front of our station. We heard it at random intervals, desperate but also elusive. Two of the Emergency Medical Technicians I work with helped me canvas the area, using whatever meat products we could find in our break room refrigerator as bait. We are situated in a busy area of Brooklyn and there are many feral cats nearby, but none had ever called out to us before.

Heather the Hamster. Top Story - April 2021.
I hate thinking of Heather as being a ‘purchase’. I often forget that I actually paid to have my little friend in my life. If anyone ever asked me ‘what do you think has been your best ever purchase’ I had maybe mentioned a new piece of filming equipment that had advanced my filmmaking or a new book that brought insight to a fictional world I loved, but now?

Adopting a Dinosaur. First Place in Stray to Stay Challenge. Top Story - April 2021.
You know how when you're eighteen and you make dumb choices? Yeah. This is one of those stories I was still a teenager, barely an adult, when I moved out with my boyfriend to a brand new city. For the first few months we lived in someone else's house; a mattress on the floor in the corner, cardboard boxes filled with our meagre belongings stacked against the opposite wall, living off cereal, hotdogs, and Sidekicks noodles.

Raising Peanut
I was always told that when you find baby animals in the wild to leave them alone. In most cases, the mother is usually nearby and will care for the infant after your unwanted presence is gone. But in this case, I had put a 'hit' out on the baby's parents.

How did my Home Become a Sanctuary for Random Creatures?. Top Story - February 2021.
Perhaps the title should read: How did my home become an involuntary sanctuary for random creatures? I certainly didn't send out invitations. Oddly enough, this is not a complaint. Each unique encounter has been either intriguing, entertaining, or at the very least educational. Only one of our visitors cost us money to remove. Perhaps I'll file that one under complaints.
