Without Struggle There's No Growth
When looking around the world the media portrays conflict as this heart wrenching, diabolical Goliath that only seeks to twist and bend life into submission. Conflict is brutality and the worst of human beings. It is the loss and destruction of pieces of humanity that we hold sacred. Innocence, pleasure, happiness and comfort are lost within conflict with nothing to gain except...experience?

What Is Holding You Back?
How often do you say "I should" to yourself? I was contemplating this concept as I was teaching this to a client who constantly focuses on their flaws instead of their strengths. But really don't we all do this? I should be cleaning right now. I should be a CEO by now. I should have a larger savings. I should be as good of a mom as Amy. Should, should, should. Such a self deprecating concept. And worse more comparative. How in one word can be admonish ourselves while comparing our status to ideals and thus begin us on a spiraling path of worry and anxiety.

How Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Saved My Life
I know that when someone drops a title like "How Jiu Jitsu Saved My Life," people are expecting a badass story about choking guys out that tried to attack me and how I fought them off with complete ease. That's not what this story is about. This is how BJJ saved me from myself. I'm going to to drone on a little bit here but I want you (the reader) to bear with me because it is very relevant to the point I am trying to make.

Motivation for the AARP Generation
Those of us of "a certain age"—meaning that we get a lot of mail from AARP each week—are repeatedly told one message. In their commercials, on their website, in their magazine, in their mailings, etc., those of us in the 50-plus age range are repeatedly told that it's never too late to do great things—and to reinvent yourself and your career.

6 Rules to Live by If You Want to Be Successful in Life
If you were to go around a room full of people and ask them what success means to them, the definition would differ every time. Success changes over time; it is so charged with emotion that it takes on many different forms. Success can mean anything to anyone. Success can lie within the family, within work and business, and others measure it by wellness.

Having a Totally Original Idea: Is It Possible?
Having a genuinely original idea is extremely hard. My friends have argued to me that having a genuinely original idea nowadays is impossible. Their argument is that yes, new things will continue to pop up here and there but they’re all based on previous ideas. They don't believe that truly original ideas can still exist anymore. I think this is a lazy theory that will restrict their own creative ambitions.

Whatever, Just Don't Get Too Comfortable
We’re creatures of habit by nature and it’s really easy to fall into a mundane daily routine. There is nothing wrong with following a healthy routine such as exercise at the beginning or end of the day... but I’m talking about the kind of comfort zone that stifles a person’s ability to move forward and see beyond the realm of possibilities.

What Does Success Really Mean to You?
While I was studying for my summer classes, I was thinking of this simple word otherwise known as "success." I am pretty sure everyone has a good idea what the definition success means, but what does it mean to you? Although it may seem easy to define success, have you thought about it long enough? I mean have you thought about it thoroughly and not just googled the definition? I will google it anyway. If I just type 'success' in the google search bar, everyone will see that success is defined as "the accomplishment of an aim or purpose." Yes, the internet may be right and allow the usage of technology to help us with this definition, but there is more to that than meets the eye. I have pondered about this a lot.

Seven Things I've Learned Since Becoming an 'Adult'
Before I start writing about my "seven things" I would just like to say, without hesitation, 10-year-old me (the innocent little sh*thead) took being young for granted, walking around thinking becoming older was somehow going to make me cooler. Somehow, I would magically make all kinds of money, which at the time, some change from my grandma's purse seemed like a LOT to me. (Silly little naive girl) That my life would be prodigious, full of new adventures, surrounded by friends. Instead, the highlight of my day could be anything from getting new soap to taking a much needed nap. If I could travel anywhere in time... for any reason at all, I'd most likely go back in time.... and punch younger me.

It's Time to Serve
In life, we are always told that we need to grow up and make a difference in our world to make it a better place. And many people choose to "serve" our country and our world by joining the military. But what if there were other ways to serve?
