Take control of your own Health!

You may still wonder why microbes exist and what would be a world without them?In this article I will tell you why earth would be barren and empty without bacteria and why we should be careful when taking antibiotics for ourselves or give them to the animals.

Why are bacteria ,microbes and other microorganisms actually helpful?

When thinking of the”helpfulness”of something we often think firstly for ourselves.Actually microbes have been on this planet for billions of years and in fact, for around three billion years they were the only living thing on earth.Letting apart any theological considerations and biases bacteria are responsible for the chemical reactions that created the biosphere-the global sum of various ecosystems that all form of life, including ourselves, depend on for survival.

We cannot see bacteria with our naked eye but they are actually everywhere, land, water and air. They adapt to the most various conditions and are extremely tough and resilient.

Nowadays we need antibiotics in order to survive..

The recent covid-19 pandemic has shown to us how vulnerable we can be.There is much debate over the origin of the COV-19 pandemic but along human history when too many people and animals gathered together, you had the perfect recipe for a pandemic, viral or bacteria caused.

In the early days of human history, bacterial epidemics were not a threat to our species.People were few and lived in close-small communities as hunters or gatherers. An infection to a member of the tribe might pose a threat to the other members but not to the entire species as tribes were few and rarely ,if ever, met.

Big cities are dangerous to live in

I advocate against living in a big city and if you have the money needed make sure to move to the countryside.Big cities host many people but also many pests such as cockroaches and rats or pigeons(sorry pigeon lovers,I love pigeons but not their numbers)Those insects and animals are a host for many diseases. But apart from those animals, coming in contact with hundreds of strangers everyday is very risky for infections of all kinds, mostly digestive and respiratory.

But our healthcare system and antibiotics will protect us,or maybe not?

Working in the healthcare system I can tell you first hand that it is very efficient when you have an emergency but a partial failure for chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, asthma, arthritis, dementia etc.As it regards the antibiotics you should know that they are not as effective as you think due to many reasons.

The most important is that all farm animals are given antibiotics in order to survive and grow fast.

I advocate against eating those poor animals that have a miserable and short life while their bodies are full of toxins and antibiotics. If you consume the meat of those animals(chicken, pork, cattle etc)small doses of antibiotics enter your gut.

The bacteria that live in your gut and not only those, as antibiotics eventually enter your bloodstream ,become immune to those antibiotics that meaning that if you ever need an antibiotic it will be less effective for you.

Big pharma wants to bypass the doctors

By Etactics Inc on Unsplash

You need a prescription to get an antibiotic but in reality, pharmacies have no moral barriers to give you anything you want.It is true that you have to pay for a visit to a doctor and even though it is the best spent money you can ever give, many people avoid doctors and visit them only with things turn really bad.The truth is that we consume too many antibiotics making them inefficient for us and our fellow people as microbes become more and more resistant to them.

The relations between our gut bacteria and our health

Think of your gut as a forest. You need all kind of animals in order to have a healthy ecosystem. When we come to this world it is supposed to come the natural way passing through the vagina of our mother. This is very beneficial as we will ingest some healthy microbes that will colonize our nose, mouth and gut preventing us from infections while we are still little and helpless. We are also supposed to be breast-fed for at least one year or more.

Now come the problems…Due to money reasons most women give birth with a caesarean or C-section.

Why they should let a woman give birth cost free instead of having complicated and espensive surgery? This is something that doctors try to hide but it is not hidden from you now.Not anymore!

You can find some good information here

https://www.webmd.com/baby/risks-of-a-c-section

If you don’t breastfeed your newborn for at least 1 year(contrary to the 6 months that most doctors recommend) you will not give it enough antibodies and hormones to face this tough world.

No baby food can match a mother’s milk no matter how expensive it may be.
