Tips on Saving Money

Save the money!

Hello shopaholics! If you need to save money for school or that trip or that new car, you have come to the right place. Here are some tips to keep you from spending money.

  1. Don't go to the shopping mall to lift your spirits; instead, find another hobby to occupy your time with, like going on nature walks.
  2. Have a bank app that tells you how much money you have spent and how much you have. Those apps can save your life because every time you spend money, a little bubble pops up on your phone and then you feel guilty for spending money, so it helps you manage it
  3. Get a job, or if you have one, don't buy your lunch.
  4. I realize I spend lots of money on food. Make yourself a lunch at home, and usually the excuse you make is that "I'm too lazy." It does not take much to make a sandwich. If you still have a need to spend money on food, use the vending machine, because you can use change on those and you can't do much else with the change.
  5. Don't go out on dates, stay in. There are many activities that you can do, such as playing a video game together, or watching a movie, go out on a walk together, take photos outside, build a fort; those are just activities from the top of my head.
  6. Be smart when grocery shopping. Don't spend money on chips or soft drinks. Just buy the essentials such as fruits and vegetables.
  7. Don't eat out. Restaurants are expensive, and don't forget on top of paying for your food, you pay the tip as well. Eat in!
  8. Stop giving your friends who live across the city a ride; gas is pricey and just explain if you are to give them a ride they have to pay for your gas, because they are using your car too. I know it seems selfish and self-centered, but if you are driving across the city to pick up your friend on the way to work or school it is a bit inconvenient, so make them pay half at least.
  9. Avoid stores. I have the tendency to go to the mall while waiting for my bus and then I find I'm spending money that I need to be saving.
  10. Don't buy that every morning Starbucks coffee, make your own! Starbucks is expensive and if you are spending about $4.25 for a coffee, you can buy your own instant for that much, and have more than one drink out of it.
  11. Go to the cheap theatre days; in some big cities they have midweek rates and it is cheaper to go then, sometimes by 50%, so it is worth it.
  12. If you happen to be in a clothing store, check out the sales first, and if there is nothing that you like, walk out of that store and head for the next one.
  13. You don't need those shoes. Shoes are expensive. If you love to buy shoes then stop! You probably have enough as it is.
  14. Look at the prices of clothing. If it's over thirty dollars, don't buy it unless it is something you need.
  15. If something costs twelve dollars, are you going to use it twelve times? That's also a very good trick so you don't spend too much money on clothes.
  16. Don't buy Christmas gifts! You can create them! If you are not a creative person that is okay too; there are things that are on Pinterest that you can do.
  17. Don't buy the cookies, bake them! Ingredients are cheaper than buying the cookies and you can make as many as you want!
  18. Withdraw money from the bank about forty dollars and make yourself only spend that much for the month, and don't use your bank card.
