Coffee Thoughts - Trolls and Post-Colonialism
One of the most underestimated educational opportunities, in my opinion, for children and adults alike is kid’s movies. I’m uncertain if it is the fact that movies are now evolving to hold concepts of acceptance (along with other themes), or if it’s just the fact that I am now watching children's movies as an educated adult; either way, I feel that modern films are amazing ways to explain complicated topics. Though there are layers for children, they may also offer a solid pivot to help clarify political topics that adults need to understand and discuss more. For example, Trolls World Tour (or as I call it - Trolls 2) is an apt representation of post-colonialism.

In a World…
Imagine to yourself that somewhere along the line instead of deciding that art was a business we decided that creativity mattered more. We figured out some way to make being an artist a livable career without taking away from science or architecture or anything like that. Hell, they did it in Rome right? The point I’m trying to bring to light is that sometimes I wonder what crazy amazing stories we’d have if there weren't 10 Fast and Furious movies. What if they decided 3 was enough and moved on to a new, more ingenuitive film franchise. Some things are great for a sequel. Some things should just be let die.

Jamie and Chuck
Jamie is thirteen and self taught in ventriloquism. His grandmother bought him a puppet during the first lockdown and he started watching you tube videos to teach himself the craft of ventriloquism. Yes, Jamie is a cutie and his puppet Chuck has a bit of an attitude. He is sassy. I hope that Darci Lynne and Jeff Dunham are watching this little guy as a possible opening act. It would be funny to see all of Dari’s and Jeff’s puppets appear with Jamie's puppet to help him win.
