Introduction

Angels have long been recognized as celestial beings, messengers of God who play a significant role in the lives of humans according to various religious traditions. The Bible, in particular, offers profound insights into the nature and purpose of angels. This Study will delve into the scriptural references to angels, shedding light on their roles in guiding, protecting, and communicating with humanity. The bible reveals that angels are given to us as ministering spirits, to help us in our life situations."Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" (Hebrews 1:14, KJV). Unfortunately believer rarely recognize their presence and rarely use them. Come one believer! Make use of your angels!

I. Messengers of God's Will

One of the primary roles of angels in human life is serving as messengers of God. Throughout the Bible, angels are dispatched to deliver divine revelations and guidance to individuals, groups, and even entire nations. For instance, in the book of Genesis, angels were sent to warn Lot and his family of the impending destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 19:1-22).

In the Gospel of Luke, the angel Gabriel appears to the Virgin Mary to announce the conception of Jesus, proclaiming, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus" (Luke 1:30-31, NIV). This exemplifies how angels serve as intermediaries, relaying God's intentions to humankind.

II. Guardians and Protectors

Angels are often depicted as guardians and protectors of individuals. Psalm 91:11 states, "For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways." This verse illustrates the belief that angels are assigned to watch over and shield humans from harm, serving as a source of comfort and assurance.

III. Spiritual Warfare and Deliverance

In the New Testament, angels are frequently associated with spiritual warfare and deliverance. The Apostle Paul writes in Ephesians 6:12, "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." Angels are seen as essential allies in this spiritual battle, aiding believers in their fight against malevolent forces.

IV. Guiding and Directing

In times of uncertainty or peril, angels often step forward to guide individuals towards righteousness and safety. In the Old Testament, an angel guided Hagar and her son Ishmael through the wilderness, ensuring their survival (Genesis 21:17-20). This serves as a poignant example of how angels act as beacons of light in our darkest moments, illuminating the path towards God's intended destiny for us.

V. Angels in Divine Intervention

Angels also serve as instruments of divine intervention, acting on God's behalf to accomplish His purposes on Earth. In the Old Testament, we see angels intervening in various ways, such as in the story of Daniel in the lion's den. An angel shut the mouths of the lions, ensuring Daniel's safety (Daniel 6:22, NIV). This narrative underscores the notion that angels are empowered by God to alter the course of events and protect His faithful.

VI. Angels as Worshipers of God

While angels are actively engaged in the affairs of humanity, they are primarily beings devoted to the worship and service of God. In the Book of Revelation, John's vision reveals a multitude of angels surrounding the throne of God, praising and glorifying Him: "Day and night they never stop saying: 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come'" (Revelation 4:8, NIV). This emphasizes the reverence and adoration that angels offer to the Almighty, highlighting their role as eternal servants of the Divine.

Conclusion

The role of angels in human life, as depicted in the Bible, encompasses a diverse array of responsibilities. They serve as messengers, delivering divine revelations, and act as guardians, providing protection and guidance. Furthermore, angels are pivotal in moments of divine intervention, manifesting God's power and care. Yet, their ultimate purpose lies in worshiping and glorifying God. As celestial beings, angels bridge the gap between the earthly and the heavenly realms, acting as conduits of God's love, grace, and wisdom for humanity. Acknowledging their role fosters a deeper appreciation for the spiritual dimensions that influence our lives. Unfortunately believer rarely recognize their presence and rarely use them. Come one believer! Make use of your angels! Task them. Remember most of them will do nothing without your instructions!
