The Shoes of Sin

The Dream of the Satan Shoes

Poem:

The Shoes of Sin

In shadows deep, where nightmares creep,

A tale of shoes, a promise to keep.

A drop of blood, a pentagram's gleam,

The Satan Shoes haunt every dream.

With soles of sin and heels that burn,

A soul's descent at every turn.

Crafted in dark, in secret sewn,

Beware the shoes that walk alone.

Every night at precisely 3:00 AM, Daniel awoke drenched in sweat, the same nightmare replaying in his mind. It began innocently enough—a pair of shoes in a shop window, shining under a pale streetlight. But as he stepped closer, the shadows deepened, and the shoes transformed into the infamous Satan Shoes, their soles filled with dark ink and a drop of blood.

In his dreams, Daniel was compelled to try them on. As soon as his feet slipped into the shoes, an icy chill ran up his spine, and he was transported to a desolate landscape, where the ground burned and the sky wept crimson tears. He was not alone; shadowy figures whispered secrets and beckoned him to follow, but he was paralyzed, unable to move or cry out.

Each night, the nightmare grew more intense. The whispers became screams, and the shadowy figures drew closer, their eyes glowing with an unholy fire. Daniel's waking life began to suffer. Exhausted and haunted by the recurring dream, he became withdrawn and paranoid, convinced that the shoes were a harbinger of something terrible.

Desperate for answers, Daniel sought out the origin of the shoes. He discovered their creation by MSCHF, the controversial collaboration with Lil Nas X, and the ensuing legal battle with Nike. The shoes had sold out in under a minute, each pair costing $1,018, a price symbolic of Luke 10:18: "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."

Determined to end his torment, Daniel decided to confront his fears directly. He found a pair of the Satan Shoes for sale on a dark web auction site. The bidding was fierce, but he won. The shoes arrived in an unmarked box, their sinister charm palpable.

On the night he received the shoes, Daniel placed them by his bed and waited for the nightmare to begin. As the clock struck 3:00 AM, he slipped into a deep sleep, finding himself again in the nightmare's landscape. But this time, he was prepared. He donned the shoes willingly, embracing the icy chill that coursed through his body.

The shadowy figures approached their whispers now clear as day. They spoke of the shoes' creation, the blood sacrifice, and the dark power imbued within. Daniel realized that the shoes were not just a symbol but a conduit for malevolent forces.

To end the curse, Daniel needed to destroy the shoes. He woke with a start, the shoes still by his bed, untouched yet seething with dark energy. He took them to a secluded spot in the woods and built a pyre. As the flames consumed the shoes, he felt a weight lift from his soul.

I love the idea of a story behind a poem. Kind of like the nursery rhymes, such as Ring Around the Rosie. Very well done
