Different kinds of ghosts
Spouse: The Spouse is a female ghost who had some unsatisfied desire to live and died unmarried. The word petni is derived from the Sanskrit word pretini (masculine word pret). These ghosts can usually take any shape, even male. They are usually committed to some crime while alive and roam the earth cursed after death. Wives are usually very ill-tempered and are apparently in human form until they attack someone. The only problem with the shape of wives is that their legs are turned backwards. There is only one way to know them and that is by looking at their feet. Although they can hold a normal female posture, their legs are still rotated backward, i.e., they and the feet and toes are rotated backward even in a human posture.
