What in the Axel F.........is Going on With this Film?!

Eddie Murphy is BACK reprising his role as wisecracking cop, Axel Foley, heading back to Cali once again. This time, it’s not only to arrest some bad guys but to bring some prestige back to the “BHC” franchise and rid himself of that awful stench from the last film.

It’s been 30 years since the last “BHC” flick so I wanted to do some research and share my thoughts on what to expect from the sequel.

Now, there’s some things I like and don’t like about the presentation of the upcoming film scheduled for a July 3rd opening.

When I was on imdb, I saw one of the posters for the movie which had Axel Foley’s picture inside of a wallet next to a badge. 

The picture wasn’t a flattering one at all for Murphy because he looked more like former Phoenix Suns power forward Amare Stoudemire then he did himself.

Also, the picture had a “Dragnet” feel and I’m not talking about the tv series version but the Dan Aykroyd version.

Remember that remake from 1987? I figured you all didn’t. Moving on. 

Let’s talk about the title for a second. “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F?”

Why not just call it “Beverly Hills Cop IV” and be done with it?!

They also did remixes of the Axel Foley theme and the Pointer Sisters “Neutron Dance” record as well. 

I wasn’t much of a fan of the new Axel Theme but I did enjoy the Pointer Sisters one.

As far as the research on what the film’s about, there’s very little detail over at imdb.com.

Here’s all it says,

“Axel Foley returns to Beverly Hills after his daughter’s life’s threatened. Includes old pals John Taggart and Billy Rosewood to uncover a conspiracy.”

That’s it?

Well, what do our friends at Wikipedia have to say about this movie?

The same shit. Okay, moving on……..

Let’s hunt down some trailers so I can get a sense of the film.

The first trailer I saw wasn’t too bad. 

One thing I want to know is what the hell’s going on with Judge Reinhold’s bizarre-looking hair these days.

It has to be the worse toupee I’ve ever seen. 

It looks like he has a mop on his head.

Mannnn, the 80's really were a long time ago.

Seeing Taggart (John Ashton) in there was a good look. He was sorely missed in the last sequel.

He was only in the trailer for a brief scene but it doesn’t appear that he’s a cop but more like a private investigator.

They team Murphy up with a new sidekick.

This time it’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Detective Bobby Abbott who is also Foley’s daughters ex-boyfriend. 

It’s not a bad choice; He’s perfect for the times.

I mentioned them giving Foley a daughter in this film so they’ve grown up the character to a certain degree.

Kevin Bacon was also added to the cast. It seems like he might be one of those “bad guys playing good.” 

So far, so good on the first trailer.

As the tube’ video ended, I saw some other interesting movie trailers.

I saw that The Rock has a new movie coming out.

It seems like The Rock always has a new movie coming out though.

I think the cat has done about 504 movies over the past two years.

I tried looking for other trailers for the “BHC” film but all of them were the same as the first. 

Even though there’s little info about the movie, it feels like the movie was done right.

It seems like they’ve found a way to mature everybody up without making them “old.”

Overall, I think this movie will be a good film.

I believe it will be a lot better then the previous sequel for sure.

Now, it remains to be seen if it will hold up to the first two films of the franchise. 

I can’t wait to see the film though.
