SDCC Schedule

Sunday

By Alexandrea CallaghanPublished about a month ago 3 min read

San Diego Comic Con is going to be a very packed weekend, with peak days being on Friday and Saturday. I have desperately tried not to overbook myself but there is just so much that I would like to do. Sunday is the day that things start winding down. All of the major announcements have already been made, the big names are going home and the crowd starts to thin out a little bit. This makes the convention a little bit more networking and comic centric. So there is still plenty that I want to do on Sunday, even with fewer options. SDCC always ends with a sing along of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode Once More With Feeling. My dad and I went last year but honestly I am probably going to skip it and just come home to my husband. The sing along is fun but it won’t be as fun without my dad and quite frankly the weekend is going to be really long without my Patrick.

We are still starting bright and early with my first panel being at 10:30 with the Stargate celebration. Dial the Gate, a Stargate podcast, is hosting a celebration for the 30th anniversary of the movie. I grew up watching both Stargate Atlantis and SG-1 so I am really excited to be covering this one. I have placed the movie on my pre comic con watchlist (that list is getting a little long now). I love Stargate and I am so excited to be in a room of other fans, I really think that is the best part of comic cons. And this takes me to 11:30. We have established that the best strategy for these things is to pick a room and stay in it so that is what I have done.

The Stargate celebration takes us right into two back to back X-Men panels. We’ve got World of X-Men, this one will discuss the animated series, and some of the comic books. As a huge X-Men fan (who has greatly anticipated the new Gail Simone run of Uncanny X-Men) I am super excited for these panels. The second panel is going to be the cast of X-Men ‘97. This is something that I am looking forward to and I am hoping that we get some news about season 2 of the incredible TV show. I know that it is outlined, and in development/production but I am hoping for even the vaguest of release dates. This takes me from 11:45 to 2:00PM.

Sunday is obviously going to be a much lighter day, ending so much earlier than any of the other days. Which means I will get to be home nice and early to upload all of the lovely photos and videos from this weekend so that you can all join in on the fun. I am super hyped for San Diego Comic Con this year and this time I get to be there all weekend. I am coming up with back up plans just in case I don’t get to hit all of the panels that I want to get into. I am probably going to go over Friday and Saturday’s schedules and see if I can be more strategic about how I am going about my day. There will be lots to see and do and I will do my best to cover just about everything that I can. Still no news on afterparties but the Temple of Geek team will be getting together at some point during the weekend and so hopefully we will have some fun news on those as well.
