My Review of Fifty Shades of Grey

A Review

By Louise Blake-Michael (Risen Phoenix)Published 2 years ago 3 min read

These are strong opinions for this movie trilogy with a little bit of facts as well. If there are fans of these movies and books I will not apologize for my thoughts and opinions. The way Hollywood glorifies toxic relationships making it look romantic it’s beyond me.

1: Fifty Shades of Grey:

The movie starts out with Christian Grey working out doing his daily routine. And the protagonist Anastasia Steele doing her daily routine until everything is thrown off for her when she is stopped by her roommate to interview her because she is sick with the stomach flu. This is when Ana meets Christian Grey for the first time immediately infatuated with him. (Like that’s normal to be infatuated by someone like him.) As the movie goes deeper into the world of BDSM also known as Bondage and Discipline/Domination and Submissive/Sadism and Masochism. He shows Ana an innocent virgin what she is really in for.

I hate the fact that he takes advantage of her, has her sign a contract giving him permission to treat her like shit. If I were her I would have much more self respect and told him to shove that contract down his mouth or stick it up his ass. But no she signs it and learns what Christian is all about and she didn’t like it. When Ana felt the pain of his crop as he hit her she left him right there the next day.

Writers commentary: I think this movie was so awful there are so many triggers for those who have been through abuse, and being mistreated. The glorifying of abusive relationships is sickening. I suggest for those who have triggers to never watch the first film, second, or third.

3: Fifty Shades Darker (second film):

Starts off with Ana getting flowers from Christian. He keeps trying to shower her with gifts. When José takes pictures of Ana for his exhibit he buys all of them because hello he has the money to do that.

Writers commentary: If someone openly admits to you I bought these photos just because I couldn’t let anyone look at you, I’d be running the other way. That’s the very definition of stalker, and I mean come on people who in their right mind would justify such shit. Not one with any self-respect would.

As he tells her this, she reluctantly goes out with him having some wine and food. He is still ordering her around on how she should eat. (Jeez, run and keep running girl!) guess some girls like that sort of thing.

They end up getting back together. How does anyone lose all of their self-respect to be with someone who is that toxic?

I will never understand this, a loss cause Christian Grey is nothing, but a toxic man with a dirty mind.

3: Fifty Shades Freed:

Oh god they end up married she marries that toxic man even though he knows a lot of about sex if you’d call that. (BDSM isn’t sex to me it’s torture.) He doesn’t even look that talented, I mean all it is is sex no emotions. No love, I think the love is one sided only for Ana.

When she announces her pregnancy to Christian he completely freaks out and runs away from her. I mean come on dude the woman who loves you is pregnant with your love child and you can’t even look at her. What the hell? Anastasia should have left him right then and there.

Towards the end of the movie Ana is pregnant, letting her Dominant do BDSM to her. Which is very dangerous. What the hell is the author thinking when writing this shit? It’s dangerous for BDSM to be performed on pregnant women!

I can’t believe people are drawn to this world or get off on hurting others sexually. It’s beyond me. Now I’ve seen the movies, and read the books. It’s one hundred percent, porno. With no emotions, or strings. Now can anyone read about character growth, or dynamics in this storyline.

E.L James was a great writer when she wrote The Mister, I loved that. When she wrote this book I couldn’t put it down. I will be doing a review on the Mister next.
