“Mum, Mum, you should have seen what I saw today,” little Billy excitedly recites as he rushes in the door from school.
Mum smiles at his excitement. “What did you see honey?”
“I found this black ant in my desk. It was cornered between my books and pencil case, trying to find a way out. It was super cool.”
She smiles at his little jumps of excitement, understanding his passion for ants. He’s always been fascinated by the tiny insects.
“Mum, you should have seen this ant, it was ginormous.”
She couldn’t help but burst into laughter at his exaggeration.

This drabble has been written as part of the daily Drabble Drop challenge and today's random word, that must be included in the drabble, is 'ginormous'.
Wikipedia defines a drabble as follows :
A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful idea in a confined space.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
