Did Someone Say FOOD?
So as a mom and wife it's my duty to cook. Obviously, that is a preconceived idea but I am okay with the chore of cooking because I enjoy it! I have been quite the chef/baker since childhood. I started cooking family dinners at the age of 12 and I have not stopped. I am 20 now, so for the past 8 years I have cooked and baked and I still love the chore. Although sometimes it can be a real chore when I have had a long day.

An Honest Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
My chocolate chip cookies are so good, you would kill a man just to get a taste. They are really fucking good. Why are they so tasty? Because I break the rules! I don't follow the recipe. (Shh, don't tell Fannie Farmer.)

A Kale Recipe for People Who Hate Kale
When I’m not drinking wine and smoking the occasional nineteen cigarettes, I consider myself to be somewhat of a health nut. So when I became aware of the health benefits of kale, I immediately jumped on the bandwagon. That was, until, I ate a piece and instantly projectile vomited onto the rug like a cat with a hairball.

Easy Summer Desserts
Summertime is one of the few seasons where desserts always seem like a mandatory part of every party. After all, what would the boardwalk be without ice cream or saltwater taffy? Worse would be a picnic or summer BBQ without popsicles for the kids.

Garlic: Nature's Antibiotic
I recently came down with a summer cold. This generally doesn't happen to me. Being in the vicinity of three sick children in a small cottage for a few days brought me down though. However, as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and granddaughter of a garlic-loving Romanian cook, I knew exactly what to do. I made my grandmother's patented coleslaw recipe. It is full of garlic, cabbage, and lemon, all foods that will knock a cold directly out of you. Try it the next time you find yourself under the weather and you will definitely accelerate your recovery!

Curried Sweet Potato and Lentil Baby Food
One of the benefits of making your own baby food is the ability to get creative. I walk through the baby food section in the grocery store pretty often—just out of sheer curiosity and perhaps a bit of inspiration. While some of them sound pretty delicious —strawberry dessert, pears with prunes, beef stew, I know for a fact they aren't all delicious. And while I would like the convenience of simply opening a jar, my wallet can't justify it. And whats more, I know my food is delicious!

Homemade Tomato Sauce
Today I am making homemade tomato sauce. This is one of the condiments I like to prepare and have on hand regularly. I have always loved ketchup and was used to slathering it with almost every meal. I knew I needed to cut back as manufactured ketchup is full of preservatives. My brother drew attention to this addiction and would joke “Your main meal today is ketchup with fries on the side!”

Glorious Passion Fruit
The Spanish name "flor das cinco chagas" was first given to this wonderful fruit by missionaries in Brazil. I am sure there are other names used for passion fruit by the indigenous inhabitants of Brazil, but I have not been able to easily find them.

How to Make Siiiick Hash Browns
Potatoes are the cruelest root. They’re literally inedible raw. They’re boring as all hell in most preparations. Don’t @ me with your counterpoints: nobody eats mashed potatoes without a gallon of cream cheese in them, stuffed potatoes are just vessels for whatever you’re putting on them, and fries need like duck fat or an entire block of sodium to be palatable. Potatoes suffer from the “rice problem,” which is that a food so incredibly boring on its own that it makes you want to chew on paint chips just to feel something can be elevated to such delicious heights. They are difficult.
