Critiquing the Wheel of Time

Somehow both progressive and extremely sexist.

A world you can taste. A fascinating, masterful magic system, intricate geopolitics and nearly unmatched cultural and historical world building. Terrifying villains that turn your stomach.

Men that are all stupid, arrogant, and shortsighted. Women who all exclusively infantilize, betray and manipulate everyone, especially their friends. Stormlight Archive is better.

Men that are all stupid-that sent me

I know I sound like an elitist, gatekeeping snob... but REALLY, the series wasn't a patch on the books. The character arcs were not as good. Perrin was not how I pictured him *at all*. I wonder if Sanderson will finish off ASOIAF as well 🤔

Nice! I think it's such a heartbreaking trope when females are infantized!

I read some of the books, I rather liked them. Maybe I should re-read. Now I am curious of the whole thing.

I'm curious whether you're critiquing the TV series or the books. Apparently 90 million copies had sold by 2021 and 7 volumes made the NYT Best Seller list. Please understand, I'm not challenging your critique; I haven't read or seen it. I'm wondering if I want to read it.

  • Men and women who are extremely flawed! Interesting!

Don't know of this work, but you make a concise and cohesive argument. Good work!
