Bin Laden was killed on this day, read the full story

May 2, 2011 was a historic day for America and the world. This was the day when a chapter of terror ended in the world. US Navy SEAL commandos entered Abbottabad in Pakistan and killed Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Within nine minutes, the SEAL team located and killed bin Laden. The entire operation was over within about 40 minutes. The name of this mission was Operation Neptune Spear. It is very interesting to know how the US intelligence agency traced Osama and how they carried out the entire mission that even Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI did not even get a clue. Let us know about it today…

This is how we came to know where Osama is hiding

Osama may have been shot down within nine minutes but it took years to track him down and plan his assassination. In 2007, CIA officials came to know about a person passing messages to Osama. American spies followed the man till Abbottabad. The house where Osama lived had very strong security arrangements. From this the CIA guessed that Osama must have lived there. The CIA took the help of Dr. Shakeel Afridi to find out where Osama lives. Dr.Shakeel Afridi secretly conducted the vaccination drive and collected DNA samples. DNA samples were taken by sending nurses to the compound where Osama lived, which confirmed that the person living in the house was Osama.

planning and training

After knowing the whereabouts of bin Laden, the plan to kill him began. A team was formed to plan a raid on the house in Abbottabad. In April 2011, members of SEAL Team Six returning from Afghanistan were asked to arrive in North Carolina for a training exercise. Let us tell you that SEAL (Seal) is a special force of the US Navy. Actually its full name is Sea, Air and Land teams. Its abbreviated form is SEAL. SEALs are commandos who can effectively carry out their missions in all three places, sea, air and land. A compound similar to Osama's Abbottabad compound was made in America for training. There the Seal Commandos were given complete training.

This is how the mission was accomplished

On April 29, 2011, the then US President Obama approved the operation. According to American time, the mission started on May 1, 2011 (May 2 according to Pakistan time), whose details are something like this...

1.51 am - Stealth Black Hawk helicopters take off from Afghanistan. The helicopter had 25 SEAL commandos of the US Navy on board.

3.30 pm - The helicopters landed at the compound in Abbottabad. A helicopter crashed but no one was injured. Mission continues.

3.39 pm - Seal commandos on the third floor of the house approached Osama bin Laden and shot him in the head above the left eye. Three other men and a woman in the compound were also killed during the operation.

3.53 pm - Obama is informed that Osama has been identified and has been killed.

3.55 a.m. - SEAL commandos brought bin Laden's body to the first floor of the house and put it in a body bag.

4.05 pm - The first helicopter took off from the compound.

4.10 pm - The rest of the team boarded a backup helicopter and left.

5.53 pm – Helicopters carrying SEAL commandos reached Afghanistan.

11.35 pm - Obama addressed the people of America and informed about the death of Osama.

12.59 pm - Osama's body was buried in the sea according to Islamic rituals. DNA testing confirmed that the body was that of Osama bin Laden.
