Valentine’s Day is the Day for lovers. The odds are that if you made your way to this article, you yourself may indeed be single, while on a holiday meant for non-single folks. I’m here to tell you that being a single person on Valentine’s Day is not necessarily a bad thing. You may not get those sweet nothings on a seemingly otherwise unimportant day, but you for sure will not be burdened by the reasons your relationship came to an end! That is what you call freedom my dear. Nevertheless, we still tend to beat ourselves up about it any way. I’m guilty at times myself. So here is a specially curated track list designed to guide your emotions during this solidarity. Here’s to all the ups and downs, and to better days ahead.

#1 Xxxtentacion - Pain = Bestfriend:

So you may be spending this Valentine’s Day alone, and reflecting on past holidays with a love that's no longer. If you’re like me, I barely trust anyone yet still end up trusting the wrong one. Why must my mind play tricks on me?! In a conflict between the mind and heart, Pain= Bestfriend soothes a broken heart with comfort and warmth. Xxxtentacion sings this track with his entire soul. His music is very relatable to real life relationships and break ups.

#2 Trippe Redd - I Tried Loving:

Sometimes we go out on a limb, let our guard down, and end up hurt anyways. Here, Trippie delivers a unique blend of indie/ rock/ rap. He is an entire aesthetic that I resonate with. He is cocky in a humble way. I Tried Loving reminds you that life does go on after a breakup, and that the wounds of a broken heart do heal. At first being alone can be rough, especially on Valentine's Day. Over time you get back to your old self.

#3 Lil Peep - Runaway:

Lil Peep serves a grunge aesthetic, and apparently, I am not the only one completely annoyed with every one's existence. I'm kidding, kind of (lol). Do you ever feel like you just want to run away from everyone and everything? Consider this your journey to another dimension. It's a temporary fix but it helps you cope with the fake energy of negative people you may encounter. Runaway is perfect for a single person on Valentine's day or any other day you’re feeling tired of everyone’s crap. Miss me with that ooey gooey love mess please and thank you.

#4 Mod Sun FT Machine Gun Kelly & Goody Grace - Stay Away:

No one is perfect right? I will go ahead and admit that I have had moments where my mind drifted to a thought of missing my ex. Gross, I know. The thoughts were short lived. Did I really miss my ex though or was it the idea of who I hoped they could be? A hah! Stay Away From Me reminds me that my ex is an ex for a reason. A pretty good reason at that! Mod Sun gives a positive free to be me energy.

#5 The Internet - Girl:

I wasted many years of my life in a terrible relationship. There was no solid foundation. Outside of the physical attraction we didn’t even like one another and after a while that became apparent. Our personalities were constantly clashing and we posses opposite desires for our life's path. I came out of the relationship knowing what I absolutely do not want. Therefore, I don't mind being single for a while. I recommend we use this time as single people and get to know, and love our self. In conclusion, The Internet has an eccentric soulful happy energy and it’s reflected in their music. I'm wrapping this playlist up on a positive note, Girl reminds me to keep my head high and my standards higher. I feel so empowered by the time this track has ended and I hope you do as well!
