I'm On Drugs
Every time I listen to "Bohemian Rhapsody" by the British band Queen it gives me goosebumps. I will never grow tired of hearing it. It is such a complex, multifaceted, and operatic song that it will be remembered as one of the greatest songs ever. I bet you have a similar story or relationship with a different song or who knows; maybe we share the same tastes.

The Paradox of Finding Your True Purpose
For most of my life I have always wondered, "What am I doing here?" What is the meaning of this existence? This is a succinct summation for the human condition. The necessity of a reason has been a splinter in my psyche leading to a number of ups and downs. Some of us are lucky enough to be exposed to the numerous ideologies in the world such as Nihilism or the various religions to fall back on and explain our existence, but there are always those who are perpetually tortured in not knowing how to live. As far back as I could remember, I felt immense heartache at times and as my childhood progressed, I experienced a few traumatizing events such as a mother suffering from an addiction. Struggling with a kind of depression or even a depressive mindset sets you in a sludge. Through the years, the cycles would become normalized, leading to immense apathy and disdain for existence itself. In my mind, however, there's also a struggle to find a sense of meaning and belonging that says to compromise and to try and find the things that could possibly bring joy not only to myself but others, as well. I wanted to pull myself out of these cycles of immense misanthropy and be useful as well as happy.

What Is PLUR?
As an OG in the rave scene, I can tell you that EDM culture and rave culture has definitely evolved a lot over the years. I initially joined the rave scene in the mid-2000s, and many of my closer friends in that scene were the people who held underground raves in the 90s.

Every Damn Song Reminds Me Of You
It was my first week of business school and I had finally started to find my place and make some friends. The group I found myself in was a smorgasbord of people, a fact we realized as the years went on and the reason some of us drifted apart. Despite any eventual parting, I was lucky to have them. I felt stronger than I ever had before, having just moved continents away from everything I had ever known. I was finally the young independent woman I had always dreamt of becoming...

Music Shaped My Mind for the Better
I listen to a variety of music. Pop to heavy metal, I’m into it. Though, I don’t enjoy every artist in every genre. Music speaks when words can’t. Music does save lives. 2010 Warped Tour. That day was the best day of the my life, my best friend took me. I got to feel the music. I got to hear the bands pour their hearts out in person. It’s life changing, really. Emarosa was the first band I ever watched, when Jonny Craig was in the band. The next band I watched live was Pierce The Veil, then Bring Me The Horizon.

Different
It was once suggested that I like the extreme music I like and the often-strange films just to be different. While I am happy to be different, it’s not intentional. I like the music I like because of what it is, how I feel listening to it and the enjoyment I get. It’s not down to me if I am in a minority. My music doesn’t make the charts, rarely sells stadium tours but is truly cathartic and life saving for me.

The Importance of Live Music
I’m hoping that everybody reading this has been to at least one live show in their time. If not, what the hell do you do with your time? Because mine is taken up by earning money for gig tickets, buying gig tickets, waiting for gig tickets to arrive, and going to gigs. My life revolves around it. If I were to list every band or artist that I have seen live, it could be well over 100. Since I went to my first gig on October 27th, 2010 (it was The Blackout at the Bristol O2 Academy), I’ve never stopped going to gigs.

It All Started With a Beat
It all starts with a beat. The beat that you just repeat in your head. The beat that flows through your body like blood. If you're like me you'll understand. You just want to hit every note perfectly with your body. When you just hear that song and you want to get up and bust a move. The way your moves look and how they flow with the beat of the music. You don't even have to think, it just happens. Music blasts, you move your body. You get in this zone where nobody else exists, your problems go away, you don't even notice if anyone is looking. You're doing you. You're focused on the music and how the lyrics sound. All your stress is being released. You're happy. Adrenaline is flowing through your body as if you're on a roller coaster.

5 Life Lessons Music Has Taught Me
We're all suspected of being under the influence of music, relying on this harmless addiction to boost our levels of dopamine. Chasing that rush, sending chills down the spine, calming the chaos in our mind — music seems to become our personal pharmacist. Beside this beneficial effect on the emotional roller coaster inside of us, music can teach us many valuable lessons on life, and make us overall better human beings.
