Did Country Singer, Carly Pearce, Just Release A Song About Her Ex?

'We Don't Fight Anymore' About The Difficulty of Relationships

By Dani McGawPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 3 min read

Carly Pearce is moving forward with her musical career! There's no doubt that she's talented and Chris Stapleton obviously agrees, or he wouldn't agreed to have been featured in her new song, "We Don't Fight Anymore."

Her new song has just been released on June 16th by Big Machine Records. It's about the good and the bad in relationships. Fans are saying it's a very "real" song.

Carly Pearce says this about her new song:

I hope this song meets you wherever you are on your journey. Whether that’s in the middle of needing to call it quits, remembering someone from the past or deciding you want to work it out. I’ve never been more proud of a song.

In the song, Carley and Chris tell a story about a couple who are having a hard time connecting. They are lonely and there's a distance between them and they seem to want to find that connection again, but they just can't manage to find a way to do it.

There's nothing in particular that has gone wrong in the relationship between the characters in the song. They just don't connect anymore.

Carly talked about the song on Instagram and said,

This song embodies a place that I think, if we are honest with ourselves, we’ve all felt at some point in a relationship. The distance that feels heartbreaking, yet you’re also indifferent. I’ve always been a writer who never wanted to shy away from the “uncomfortable” moments in all of our lives, and this song feels too important not to share.

Is this new song about Carley Pearce and her ex?

Fans of Carly Pearce know her songs come from the heart. She talks about uncomfortable things but she's honest and the lyrics of the songs are words you can relate to.

Before too many fans got ahead of themselves, Carly shut down any ideas that the song lyrics are based on her own life. She knew fans might wonder if it had anything to do with her recent breakup with Riley King.

Carly and Riley were together for two years and recently split.

In an exclusive interview with People, Carly said that her and Riley just weren't right for each other and it was apparent that they weren't going to be able to last, long-term.

In fact, Carly Pearce says, she wrote the song, "We Don't Fight Anymore," while she was still ridiculously in love with Riley King.

Carly continued to say that her life is a "beautiful journey" and she's excited about where it is going. Riley has been heard to say that he wishes her the best in all areas of her life.

"We Don't Fight Anymore" Is Special For Another Reason

Besides the fact that this song is the first Carly Pearce and Chris Stapleton duet (hopefully more will come!) this song is special for Carly. It marks her debut as a co-producer!

It's also the first song to be released since her third album did so well. 29: Written in Stone was a well-received collection but it was largely reminiscent of her divorce from fellow country music star, Michael Ray. Their relationship last barely a year. Pearce says she is glad to leave that period of her life behind.

There's no doubt that Carly Pearce has a bright future. Today, she's releasing songs featuring Chris Stapleton. Who will be next?

As Carly Pearce grows and expands her skills, fans continue to flock to her concerts. Between her great music, relatable lyrics, and her pleasing personality, her fan base is only likely to grow.

Have you heard this song yet? What did you think of it?
