Curiosity of the Undiscovered
Nobody can hear a scream in the vacuum of space, or so they say. Space— a phenomenal example of a polysemy. The word space can transport a person’s mind—or body—into a broad spectrum of universes…within their imagination…or literally. Space is deep, expansive, and vast. Space contains a universe of endless possibilities, opportunities, and discoveries.

I Wrote A Letter to My Former School District
To whom it may concern, Hi, My name is Zoe Frenchman and I was a DASD student up until I graduated from Downingtown East High School in June of 2021. As other students have previously emphasized, I am no longer one of your students so there is essentially no reason that I should be writing you this letter. However, I care and it seems as if you do not. From the moment I walked into East my first day of freshman year, I knew I was going to struggle. And I did. A lot.

Discovery of Intrinsic Motivation
Motivators are internal or external forces that drive or inspire a person to be successful, accomplish tasks and goals, and care for themselves. From personal observations, a major component of many individuals who suffer mental illnesses such as depression, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, or anxiety is their inability to properly internally motivate. As an individual who suffers from borderline personality disorder, anorexia, depression, and anxiety, I have primarily utilized my external motivators almost my whole life. The reason for this is most likely due to my low self-confidence, which causes me difficulty with internal motivation. As I have aged and matured, I have realized that I cannot completely rely on external factors to motivate myself. I have to use my own future, my own health, my own welfare, and myself as a whole as motivation to cherish, accept, and care for myself.

Anorexia Nervosa— From the Perspective of an Anorexic
Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder defined as having a distorted perception of weight, an abnormally low body weight, and an intense fear of weight gain. But there is much more to it. It is not simply about maintaining a low body weight. It is a disease that dictates your decisions, your relationships, and your life as a whole. So, what causes anorexia? That is a question many people do not know the answer to. As someone who has been diagnosed with anorexia and still struggles with it, I can provide my input. In simple terms, there is no one cause of a mental disorder. It is something I believe one is born with, but it does not necessarily come to the surface until there is some sort of trigger. There can be many triggers that may cause someone to develop their anorexia deeper. It can be as simple as someone commenting on your body as a child, or it can be a way of gaining control, or it can be simply having low self-esteem and a distorted thought process. It varies for every individual.

Juice WRLD - A Complicated Genius
Jarad Anthony Higgins, aka Juice WRLD, was an influential and critically-acclaimed hip-hop artist, who unfortunately passed away from a drug-induced seizure at the Chicago airport on December 8, 2019, at age 21. He has been my favorite musical artist for a long time now. His lyrics resonate with me exponentially. This post will be focused on his background, his music, his influence on me, and overall why he is my favorite artist, even posthumously.
