A garden tail
The night was dark and full of deer. They ate azaleas, oh dear, tomatoes, hostas, chives and thyme; then they were running out of time and all that's left was marigolds and so they shat all over folds of an already brown tarp. Yes, deer are evil, mean and sharp, but they were chased away by crows that flew in perfect even rows and defecated one by one until their shit became the sun. The day is young and full of hope - we'll buy a rifle and a scope and google venison and steaks; for now, though, it's spades and rakes and rhododendrons in the mud. I warn you, deer: I'm out for blood.

Mirror, mirror
The mirror showed a reflection that wasn't my own. The woman in the mirror had such radiant beauty that the glass seemed to fog slightly. Of course, it was just the humidity. Blood is mostly water, and there is an astonishing volume of hot blood in the human body.

Good bye, Bellatrix
Bellatrix – that’s what the family in the corner house named her when she befriended Bolt, their aging Westie. They also declared that Bellatrix was a girl – not an easy call with fluffy white rabbits – fed her an occasional carrot and even let her come indoors on the rare occasions Bellatrix seemed inclined to do so.

Vocal - the #100 thoughts
...And so I have published 100 posts on the Vocal platform. Time to reflect a bit. I had high hopes for Vocal when I joined - some of these hopes materialized, while the rest proved to be overly optimistic. I know that rhyming metered poetry (most of my posts) is not popular these days. I had many discussions on this subject with other poes, reareds, and even some random folks who were careless enough to be within the "excuse me, may I ask you a quick question" range. The results were inconclusive to slightly negative, but I did, do and will maintain that poems should rhyme. And prose should have rich imagery, rhythm and structure - while still being called prose.
